![]() It won’t be all work and no play! Hello everyone, Although conference is all about professional and personal development, we also hope to bring you a fun social programme where you can network with colleagues from all over New Zealand. National Executive Wine and Cheese and Pre-registration. If you are in Christchurch early for conference you can enjoy a wine and cheese function on the Sunday evening (5:00pm–7:00pm). This is hosted by the members of the SLANZA National Executive and is an opportunity to meet your NE representatives and other conference attendees. You will also be able to register for conference during this time to save some queuing time on the Monday morning. Happy Hour and SLANZA Awards After the final session on Monday we will enjoy drinks and nibbles and congratulate those receiving SLANZA awards this year. Conference Dinner On the Tuesday evening you can attend our conference dinner at the Ilex centre in the heart of our beautiful botanical gardens, Hagley Park. Enjoy an evening of networking and some after dinner entertainment! We will provide transport to and from St Andrew’s College to the dinner if you wish to attend. Registrations open very soon! In 2013-2014 SLANZA offered our very successful Connected Librarians course to members. We are grateful to those who participated, for supporting SLANZA’s professional development and also for giving us feedback on ways we might improve what we do.
As part of a major review of the course - including participant’s feedback - we are very pleased to announce that each of the six topics that made up the original Connected Librarians course will now be offered as individual modules. We believe this will make our course even more accessible, by removing some of the barriers to participating, and offering the flexibility to better fit learners’ individual needs. The course modules are designed and fully facilitated by practising New Zealand school librarians, for school librarians. They are ideal for those library staff just starting out with online tools, who are ready and willing to try new things. Registration is free for SLANZA members. Class places are limited. Registrations for module #1 - Professional Reading using RSS feeds and Feedly - will open on Tuesday June 2nd (week 7). Successful applicants will receive invitations to our learning community in Week 9, and the class itself runs in Weeks 10 and 11. More information about Connected Librarians is available here, or you can contact me directly with any questions. Miriam Tuohy Professional Development team leader Author Breakfasts at Conference 2015!
Hello everyone, We continue to count down to registrations opening at the end of the month and can now let you know about two author breakfasts that will be available to you. We will be welcoming Ben Brown and Natalie King as our guest authors and at the time of registration you will be able to indicate if you would like to attend a breakfast with Ben and/or Natalie. We would like to thank the New Zealand Book Council for bringing Ben Brown to conference. Keep watching for more conference news soon! Cathy Kennedy Conference Committee Convenor [email protected] www.slanza2015.co.nz Winter might be upon us but look forward to spring in Christchurch and conference 2015! Hello everyone, The time is drawing near when you will be able register for conference 2015 – we will let you know as soon as registrations open at the end of this month. We have a great selection of workshops coming together and the list of these so far is attached below. We still have one or two to confirm so watch for more being added over the next month. You will be able to access a full abstract on all of these before making your selections but for now we will leave you with just the mystery of the titles! Unfortunately Tracie Mauro one of our keynote speakers is now unable to attend conference due to personal circumstances. We are sorry Tracie can no longer join us but we are pleased to announce that we have added Kay Oddone to our group of keynote speakers. We are excited to invite Kay to Christchurch and look forward to her keynote and workshop. We will continue to keep you up-to-date with conference news as we count down to registration!
