Mailing Lists (Email Forums)

For general list etiquette information, please refer to the guidelines at the right.

NZ School Libraries list (Schoollibs Listserv)

The School Library Mailing List is hosted by the University of Canterbury and moderated by members of the SLANZA Schoollibs Listserv Ohu Mahi.
It is open to anyone involved with school libraries, including library staff, teachers, publishers, book sellers, and library-related vendors.

Many SLANZA members take an active part in this forum, helping the wider school library community by sharing their experiences and knowledge.  This listserv is for professional conversations between school librarians. The school library listserv is not an advertising forum.
If you are a business or wish to promote your product to school librarians, please use other means such as sending emails to individual schools, contacting people via advertising in our Collected magazine (contact [email protected] for details) or sending flyers to schools.

More information and instructions for signing up, subscribing (and unsubscribing) to this list can be found here.
You can access the list archives only as a subscribed member of the list.

Please read and understand the following before subscribing:
  • Schoollibs Listserv Guidelines
  • Guidelines for using AI in our Listserv Community

NZ-Libs list

The NZ-Libs email discussion group is for discussion of library and information services in New Zealand/Aotearoa. This includes:
  • meeting and course announcements
  • issues of general library or information management interest

More information and instructions for subscribing to this list can be found here.
Please direct any inquiries regarding this list to the list owner.

Guidelines

Mailing lists are a place to ask for help, and receive support from other members of the library community.
When participating in discussions, keep these guidelines in mind:
  • Include a useful subject line, rather than something like "Help".
  • All communication should be respectful and professional.
Keep in mind that virtual strangers will be reading your messages.
  • Keep messages short. If you need to post more than a few paragraphs, start with a brief summary.
  • Post only messages that meet the common needs and interests of list members.
  • Avoid posting messages without any useful contents, such as "I agree" or "Great Post" or "Me Too" messages to the entire list. If you wish to send this kind of message, send it to the person you are complimenting.
  • Take care choosing recipients for replies to mailing list messages.
  • Use "Reply" to reply to just the sender of the message you are responding to;
  • Use "Reply to all" to send your message to every member of the list.
Thank you for your co-operation
