Sasha Eastwood - Central SLANZA National Executive Representative
Kia ora, I have been the Librarian & Resource Manager at Manchester Street School in the Manawatū rural town of Feilding since 2008.
My Job - I love the variety of tasks I work through every day – from buying, cataloguing, processing and showing students and staff our new books; to facilitating and organising events within our school community that promote the love of reading; and also teaching library and information literacy skills to all our 17 classes who visit our library once a week.
SLANZA - I joined the SLANZA Central Committee in 2009 where it felt great to be surrounded by knowledgeable and supportive school librarians and be a part of a group of professionals advocating for school libraries. In 2018 I became the Central Rep on SLANZA National Executive and from 2021-2023 I was proud to hold the SLANZA President position, I am currently holding the position of Immediate Past President. The mahi we undertake to support our members and advocate for the sector is exciting and varied.
