Otago Member Pam Garry was recognised for the Promotion of Literacy and the Enjoyment of Reading Pam’s award was presented to her at the latest Otago meeting on the 22nd of August by President Bridget Schaumann. The meeting was held at John MacGlashan College The meeting had a great turnout and local members who attended The SLANZA Conference reported back on their experiences and the workshops that they attended. Most of these presentations are available in full on the SLANZA website at : http://www.slanza.org.nz/2013-conference.html Dates will be set for a social event before the end of Term 3 and members will be advised in due course. We had a turnout of 15 members and prospective members, and a good time was had by all. There many discussions about the beginning of the school year and opinions were exchanged on all sorts of matters. It was great to catch up and it was a very convivial gathering.
A little official business was carried out , Bridget Schaumann asked for information on ideas for courses and speakers for our meetings and there was some discussion about an Access it Users support network. Details will appear about our first meeting and I’ll try to keep you all informed.
