Did you know it’s been estimated that less than a third of Aotearoa NZ schools have a library space with an adequate collection and that is staffed by a specialist school librarian? (SLANZA Media Release 2022)
SLANZA thought it was long overdue to celebrate our school libraries across the motu showcasing the difference a school library can make to every school community.

We were excited to commission Paul to illustrate and design a series of resources to support schools to organise activities to celebrate their school library.
Paul Beavis is an illustrator and author based in Porirua. Paul’s first book Mrs Mo’s Monster, Gecko Press, won the 2015 LIANZA Russell Clark Award for Illustration. Since then, he has illustrated lots more books for Scholastic, Annual Ink, Púkeko Pictures and Write laugh. He is probably best known for illustrating the best-selling Nee Naw the little Fire Engine books with author Deano Yipadee.
