Te Ara o Tāwhaki - Beyond the Bookshelves
SLANZA Conference 2027
Save the Date!
SLANZA is delighted to announce that the next National Conference will be held from Wednesday 29 September to Friday 1 October 2027 at Auckland Grammar School, located in central Auckland.
The conference theme is Te Ara o Tāwhaki - Beyond the Bookshelves, and we are working hard to prepare three days of meaningful, useful workshops, panels, speakers and tours, with a focus on future-proofing and advocacy, while remaining grounded in our foundation of books and reading. Onsite conference activities will conclude at midday on Friday, after which delegates will have the opportunity to participate in bus tours of local school libraries. These tours will finish at Auckland Airport for convenience.
As you prepare your budgets for 2027, we recommend allowing approximately $500 for conference registration. We recognise that this represents a significant investment and are actively seeking sponsorship opportunities to help reduce costs. Final registration fees, including early-bird pricing, will be confirmed in early 2027.
Accommodation will be available at Tibbs House, Auckland Grammar School's on-site boarding facility. Shared rooms accommodating up to five guests, with shared bathroom and toilet facilities located outside the bedrooms, will be available for $105 per person, per night. Guests will have access to a selection of breakfast foods and ingredients to create their own breakfast each morning. Information about special rates at other nearby accommodation providers will also be released early in the new year.
