SLANZA Central Connects in Havelock North

Our second SLANZA Central Connects PLD day brought school library professionals together at Woodford House in Hawke’s Bay last Friday.
The focus of the event was face-to-face connection for local school librarians (many who are new to our sector) and targeted learning, featuring:

• Interactive Sessions: A video call with AnyQuestions and a session with author and bookseller Adele Broadbent, who shared her passion for reading and introduced her website, What Book Next?, and presentations from our sponsor representatives.
• Author Spotlights: Afternoon visits and insights from local authors Mary-anne Scott and Di Morris.
• Collaborative Networking: Opportunities to connect over good food, alongside representatives from our valued sponsors AccessIT, Scholastic, and Wheelers ePlatform.

The day brought together 20 school librarians, a teacher, three local authors, a National Library senior specialist, a Hastings Public Librarian, and book industry reps.

Special thanks to organiser extraordinaire Alice Corkran for hosting us in her beautiful library space at Woodford House.
