Kia ora,
Due to some very sad circumstances involving COVID and the health of our BLBF hosts' family, we need to move this event from Hillmorton High School to Riccarton High School. The Riccarton High School Library is the Joint Use Library at 71 Main South Road. You can park in the Library carpark at the front or back. Pop along early and enjoy a coffee at our lovely Library Cafe. It is not too late to RSVP or send an apology for the AGM. Please send these to Sally [email protected]. We'd love to see some new people on the committee, so if you'd like to volunteer, just let us know. Your SLANZA Aoraki Committee Come along to our Big Little Book Fair and meet some local independent booksellers. There will be stock for sale and some great discounts. If you are not a member you are still most welcome to attend. It will be a great time to catch up with colleagues and chat about how our year has started, if it is anything like us, it will be busy. We will also hold our AGM. It is important that as many people as possible attend so we reach our quorum, and of course there will be a delicious afternoon tea. RSVP and any apologies for the AGM to Maree ([email protected]). We'd love to see some new people on the committee, so if you'd like to volunteer, just let us know. Please come along to our end of year night for conviviality and a quiz.
This year we are meeting at Heaton Intermediate on Thursday November 24th at 6pm. RSVP to [email protected] by November 22nd. Everyone welcome including non-members!

Please tale a look around the SLANZA website to find out more about what SLANZA is all about. We look forward to hearing from you! Your Aoraki SLANZA Committee ![]() Last month we held our SLANZA Aoraki AGM at the St Thomas of Canterbury College Library. Many thanks to Wendy Marshall for the venue. As was once famously said by the great Robbie Burns, "the best laid plans of mice and men gang aft a-gley" and our AGM was no exception! The wonderful Karen Healey was unable to attend as our speaker due to illness on the night and, despite the best efforts of the Committee, we were unable to secure another author at short notice. [It should be noted here that both Rachael King and Rachel Stedman were very willing but unable to step into the breach so we look forward to having them speak at another function in the future]. We were very happy to say that despite setbacks and with true Cantabrian spirit, we reached a quorum of members and ran a very successful meeting sharing relevant experiences of some of the members' recent professional development opportunities. We farewelled with huge thanks two members of our Aoraki Committee: Janine Ramsay and Wendy Marshall. Both stepped down for personal reasons and we wish them all the best for the future. Thanks was also expressed to Karen Gardner for her role as Secretary to date as she is stepping aside from this commitment whilst still remaining on the Committee. We also thanked our wonderful Acting Chairperson, Paula Eskett, who stepped into the leadership role this year to see us through to this AGM. We truly appreciate the passion and time you have put in on our behalf in this role. The position of Aoraki Chairperson has now been taken over by Saskia Hill, who will also act as Aoraki Regional Representative for SLANZA National Executive. The Aoraki AGM meeting minutes can be found here. We look forward to an exciting 2013/2014 year in SLANZA. Saskia Hill Chairperson, SLANZA Aoraki |
