SouthlandMy name is Kirsty Adam and I am the Library Manager at James Hargest College. I am a trained teacher and worked at the Invercargill Public Library before moving to my current position 2 years ago.
I love sharing my enthusiasm for reading with anyone willing to listen and working in a school gives me a captive audience! The huge scope of a School Librarian role means I can also teach info lit skills, arrange library events and competitions, buy books, chat to students, hold book clubs and maker camps, ‘play’ with new technology and so much more. Who wouldn’t want our job?! I think it is wonderful that School Librarians can develop a collaborative and supportive community since we would otherwise work in isolation. The support and PD opportunities provided by SLANZA have been invaluable to me and I am enjoying being a part of this vibrant organisation. |
