Immediate Past PresidentOne of the best presents I got as a 10 year old was a subscription to the Northcote Library. We lived just outside the free borrowing area, and as I'd read all the books in my school library, it opened up a new world and started my love affair with libraries. My love affair with books began some time before that!
I've taught all over Auckland, been part of library teams and a TLR, and worked at National Library as part of the Curriculum Services team and as an Advisor for New Schools. Now I'm back in a school and loving working in an environment where it is cool to read and learn, and where academic achievement is celebrated. I was part of ASLA when the big push came to form SLANZA, which was incredibly exciting. I was on the SLANZAK committee for six years until I left to bring our reader into the world. Now he is five, and is devouring books too with an overflow bookcase in his bedroom, plus the pile of current faves in the lounge. Please do contact me at any time, and join us as we work to put school libraries and library staff at the centre of supporting student learning. |
