The Auckland term three event was held at the National Library building in Parnell.  Lisa Allcott and Elizabeth Atkinson welcomed the 30 members who attended and then Pam Lilley started the day by talking about writing a Collection Development policy.  She stressed the need to have a Mission Statement and a Vision that tie in with your school's Vision and Mission statements.

There was plenty of opportunity to discuss ideas and ask questions.  The second presenter was Karen Leahy who led a discussion about writing your budget application using a points system

that she has developed that allows her to target specific subject areas.  Her system ensures that she spends her budget in the areas that need it most.

The final speaker, Trish Webster, spoke about Weeding and Stocktaking your collection.  First she showed the excellent weeding video on the National Library website. Then she shared the MUSTY criteria developed by the American Library Association that can be used to determine which resources should be weeded.  The Stocktaking portion of her talk focused on tips for undertaking a successful stocktake, particularly emphasizing that spending time tidying the library is never wasted and could save you valuable time.
